A Coffee Table project

This table is made of Cherry, approx 18x36. The top was assembled from  two highly-figured tiger stripe boards. Show to the right  is the unfinished dry-fit assembly.
The finish applied to the wood surfaces was a flood coat of clear Watco oil, then rubbed lightly with 400 grit Wet-Dry sandpaper. After 30 minutes it was reflooded, allowed to absorb for another 15 minutes, then wiped.
After three days, once the oil had cured and solvent evaporated, the surfaces were sprayed with three coats of Olympic waterbourne poly, with a light sanding between each coat.
After 36 hours of curing, the tabletop was leveled with 400 grit wet-dry sandpaper, then all surfaces were rubbed with 4-ought steel wool. This final rubbing produced the satin sheen I prefer on my projects.
