This rocker is sized for toddlers. It is constructed of poplar using biscuits and glue. No nails or screws are used in assembly.
The normal finish for projects made of poplar is to paint them with an enamel. I finished this with a spray-on glossy white, but any colors, brushed or sprayed will work.
It takes about 3 cans of spray paint to give this a smooth glossy coat. Spray on a coat, let it dry overnight, then sand lightly with 220 grit paper. Wipe off and spray again.
Sand when dry with 220 grit paper, and put on a finish coat. Overlap the spray and leave it wet looking. It should dry smooth and glossy. You might need to put on another coat if some sections absorb too much of the paint.
Brushing will require at least two coats, sanding lightly between coats.
